La Salle celebrates 1st UAAP general championship
MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle University (DLSU) celebrated its first general championship in the UAAP, capped off by 5 championships in the women's division.
DLSU President and Chancellor, Bro. Ricky Laguda FSC, described the 75th UAAP season as “a season of blessings and thanksgiving.”
In a message, Laguda gave recognition to the coaching staff, team managers, sports benefactors, and the Animo Squad for their efforts.
“It is a blessing because many of our student-athletes were able to share their God-given talents to the whole Lasallian community through sports. It is a thanksgiving because we acknowledge and thank the Giver of our talents,” he said.
La Salle won titles in women’s taekwondo, table tennis, chess, tennis, and volleyball.
It finished 2nd in women’s basketball, men’s taekwondo, men’s swimming, men’s table tennis, and women’s football, and 3rd in 11 categories.
“To my dear Lasallians, the only road to a life of peace is the honor and respect you have shown in playing every game with a heart of a champion,” said Laguda.
La Salle sealed the championship when it defeated the National University in the Final Four of the women's volleyball tournament.
