UFC's Vera returns after long layoff
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-American fighter Brandon “The Truth” Vera announced that he’s ready to fight again since his loss to Shogun Rua last year.
Vera, who gave out a competitive and probably one of his best performances against Rua, has put the UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight division on notice.
“I got my mojo back, I'm putting all the 205s and heavyweights on notice. I'm back son, like I crave it now. For a long time I didn't need to train or didn't need to win or need to shine. I don't know what happened, but I got it back,” the 35-year-old fighter said in Bloody Elbow.
Everyone thought the Filipino-American is already at the downside of his career, but Vera said the Rua fight in August 2012 showed he’s not yet on the decline.
Vera added that he’s open to a rematch against the former UFC light heavyweight champion.
“I'm looking forward to doing that with you again. Everybody thought I was washed up, put back on the shelf and call it a day, but I'm not. I think I'm just now coming full circle into my career,” he said.
