MANILA, Philippines - Hope Christian High School and Colegio de San Agustin, Makati emerged victorious in the competitive matches of the BEST Center Women’s Volleyball League (WVL) Season 18 finals held at San Beda College, Manila.
In the 17-Under competitive division, Hope Christian pummeled Kings Montessori School, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.
In a similar showdown, Colegio de San Agustin, Makati (CSA) retained its crown in the 13-Under competitive division, trouncing Jubilee Christian Academy, 23-13, 25-9.
Colegio de San Agustin ceded the title in the 13-Under developmental division, in a 22-25, 25-21, 25-19 loss to Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan, Inc. (EDSCI),
Over at the 17-Under development division, La Consolacion College triumphed over the heady St. James Academy, 16-25, 25-15, 25-22.
Sponsored by MILO, this season saw 62 teams vying for the coveted trophies. BEST Center WVL hosted developmental and competitive matches around Metro Manila for young volleyball players ages 7 to 18 to provide aspiring volleyball athletes a venue to develop their skills.
“It’s all about teamwork and discipline,” said Andrea Lagman, who was named most valuable player in the 13-Under Competitive Division. “My experience at BEST Center WVL is really something I would remember as I continue to improve my skills in volleyball,” the 13-year old ace player from CSA added.
Her mother Adriana Lagman agreed: “Instead of being addicted to video games, my daughter is on the right track in terms of fitness, self-confidence and social skills, thanks to BEST Center’s volleyball matches.”
Other MVPs this season are Alexandra Juangco (EDSCI) in the 13-Under Developmental Division, Rhea Manalo (LCC) in the 17-Under Development Division and Isabel Molde (Holy Family School) in the 17-Under Competitive Division.
