ICTSI Sherwood Classic kicks off on March 17

MANILA, Philippines -- Some of the best golfers in the country will face off in the 3rd ICTSI Sherwood Classic in Trece Martirez City, Cavite on March 17.

A total of 80 professional golfers and 20 amateurs are expected to participate in the event, which is slated at the Sherwood Hills Golf Club.

The 72 par-course tournament, which will run until March 19, will be played over 54 holes (3 rounds) stroke play. After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the leading 40 professionals plus ties.

The tournament offers a total prize of P1 million.

A Pro-Am competition, to be participated by about 30 teams, will also be held a day before the tournament proper.

The ICTSI Sherwood Hills Classic began in 2008 with Robert Pactolerin winning the inaugural tournament and Elmer Salvador coming in 2nd. Ferdie Aunzo won his first Philippine Golf Tour (PGT) as an amateur.

The following year Salvador won the title with Benjie Magada coming in second. Aunzo finished third in the competition, which marked his first year as a pro.
