Filipino boxer Z “The Dream” Gorres and former IBF minimumweight champion Roberto Carlos “Mako” Leyva promised fight fans an explosive match in the “Judgment at the Waterfront” card on Saturday night.

“My confidence level is high now that I moved up to bantamweight. I’m very comfortable and I feel strong [at this weight category],” Gorres said in a report by The Freeman. “I’m ready to fight. Expect a new Z Gorres.”

Leyva, on the other hand, said Gorres would have to work really hard to beat him. “I’m a former world champion. Usually I fight in the 115 lbs. but the Gorres offer is too good to turn down,” said Leyva.

The two will slug it out for the prestigious WBO Oriental bantamweight title.

In the other judgement fight, Milan Melindo will face former world champion Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia for a world title shot.

Melindo reacted to Rachman’s claim that his match with the Filipino boxer will merely serve as a “tune up fight”.

“If he (Rachman) considers this fight as a mere tune-up, let’s just wait and see whether he’s wrong or not with his pronouncement,” said Melindo.

Melindo is the reigning WBO Asia-Pacific and WBA Intercontinental minimum weight titlist.

Meanwhile, former WBO Oriental bantamweight king Michael Domingo makes a ring comeback after being cleared from hepatitis “B” by specialists.

Domingo hopes to get back into the bantamweight picture when he faces Monico Laurente in one of  "Judgement's" undercard bouts.

Judgment at the Waterfront will be telecast by the ABS-CBN over Studio 23 at 9 p.m. Saturday with a replay on Channel 2 at 10 a.m. on Sunday. With a report from Ronnie Nathanielsz
