Diaz snubs UFC 158 open workout
MANILA, Philippines – He did it again.
Nick Diaz, who is scheduled to fight UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre this weekend, didn’t show up in the UFC 158’s open workout at the Complexe Desjardins in Montreal, Canada.
It wasn’t the first time the American fighter snubbed a pre-fight event. Diaz was a no-show at a 2011 press conference that was supposed to announce his fight against St-Pierre. As a result, he was pulled out of that St-Pierre bout.
UFC president Dana White wasn’t pleased with Diaz’s no-show at the open work out, threatening action if the fighter snubs UFC 158’s pre-fight press conference on Friday.
"If he does not show up tomorrow for the press conference, it's not going to be good," White was quoted as saying in MMA Fighting.
"I don't know what to say, or what's going to happen, but let me tell you what, it will not be good."
Although irked by Diaz’s actions, the amiable St-Pierre has chosen not to bash his opponent.
“It doesn't change nothing in my life," he said. "I don't worry about him. I only worry about myself. I don't care."
When asked about the possibility of another snub at the UFC 158 press conference, St-Pierre said: "He will show up. He's going to show up, for sure."
