Django continues to win pool tourneys in US
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino pool legend Francisco “Django” Bustamente added another crown to his collection after grabbing the title in the 4th Annual Chet Itow Memorial last March 9-10 at the California Billiard Club in Mountain View, California.
Bustamante bested Scotland’s Jayson Shaw in the finals to finish undefeated in a field of 109 players. He pocketed $2,500, while Shaw went home with the runners-up purse of $1,600.
According to a report from AZBilliards, Bustamante took control in rack seven, with the Filipino holding a 4-2 lead.
“Bustamanta put together a title-earning six-pack that included a 3-9 bak combination that finished in less than 45 minutes,” the report said.
Another Filipino cue artist, Santos Sambajon finished in a tie for seventh to eighth place with American Bobby Alexander, while Ronato Alcano and Deomark Alpajora landed in the ninth to 12th places.
