Ricky Hatton, beware.

People's Champ Manny Pacquiao sent this message after he knocked down his sparmate in his first day of sparring while preparing for the May 2 superfight with Hatton.

The sparring partner, Art Hovhannesyan from Glendale, California, hit the canvass in the second round of their session.

He also suffered a cut after Pacquiao tagged him with a left hook to the face. This was despite Hovhannesyan having a head gear with a face mask.

According to a report by Ed de la Vega of Philboxing.com, the knock down incident in Pacquiao's first day of sparring "may serve as a warning to Ricky Hatton and his loudmouth trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr."

"Hovhanesyan was cut on the upper eyelid (a cut the ringside experts describes as about one inch) by a single left hook resulting in the immediate stoppage of the sparring," he added.

Pacquiao's sparring session took place in his training camp at Freddie Roach’s Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles, California.

In thick of training

ABS-CBN’ Dyan Castillejo earlier reported that “The Pacman” is currently in the thick of his training sessions.

Each of Pacquiao’s morning workout involved roadwork. Three times a week he undergoes flat running at the Pacific Park.

Joining Manny in his training are his brother Bobby and Pinoy boxer Bernabe Concepcion, who will be fighting in the undercard on May 2.

Also trying to keep up with his master is Manny’s pet dog “Pacman.”

Pacquiao has a whole team and coaching staff watching his conditioning.

Because they are expecting a very physical fight, they are focusing on strengthening Manny’s entire body -- upper body, legs and all parts of the midsection.

“This fight, he’ll really shock everybody at how strong he is... if they thought he was strong at 147, wow, at 140 he is lethal,” said Alex Ariza, Pacquiao’s conditioning coach. With a report from Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN News
