Pacquiao-Clottey PPV buys might exceed 700,000
MANILA, Philippines – While “The Event” isn’t likely to surpass the pay-per-view (PPV) record of the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto fight, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said the Filipino boxer’s title defense against Joshua Clottey could actually exceed 700,000 PPV buys.
“[The numbers are] very, very strong. We don't have all of the reports, so it's not official, but I believe we are going to exceed 700,000. I certainly believe that based on the numbers we do have," Arum told BoxingScene.com’s Rick Reeno.
Arum said despite Clottey’s lack of drawing power, Pacquiao’s popularity has certainly pulled in the number as shown by the 51,000 in attendance at the Cowboys Stadium during fight night.
"It did just as well as when Pacquiao fought Hatton. You have to really give Pacquiao credit because there were people getting excited because it was Pacquiao fighting in Cowboys Stadium," said the promoter.
Arum added that marketing the Pacquiao-Clottey fight was quite tricky because most boxing fans were not familiar enough with the Ghanaian boxer.
This is why, he said, they relied mostly on Pacquiao’s star power.
"With Cotto vs. Pacquiao, we were selling the fight. Here [in Pacquiao-Clottey] we were selling the fighter and that's difficult. Pacquiao fighting in Cowboys Stadium, that was the sell,” Arum said.
The Pacquiao-Cotto fight garnered a total of 1.25 million PPV purchases due to the popularity of both boxers in their respective countries.
Arum earlier said the Pacquiao-Clottey fight could pick 650,000 PPV buys at the lowest.
The Filipino boxer secured a unanimous decision against Clottey on March 13 to retain the World Boxing Organization welterweight crown he won from Cotto.

After the fight, we know the Ghanian fighter is a rich man and ready to retire!!!!...hehhe... He does't care if he perform well in the fight, he doesnt care if the crowd is entertain, he doesnt care if the promoters are interested in his fight, he doesnt care he gets his next fight, all he cares are that, his free from any injury and bruises, he cares about being rich and ready to retire after that bout! heheh

No Problem............
There is no problem for Manny Pacquiao to become popular or not now. AS LONG AS HE DOESN'T SING AND ACT. Those are the one that make his integrity and popularity go down the drain. When he does something he is not good at or far from being one? His integrity and poor judgement will slap him back and forth and is it ashamed to see him making a fool out of himself. Just stay as a boxer and please refrain from being a SINGER or an ACTOR let alone a POLITICIAN.

Overestimated Pacquiao's drawing power
People seriously overestimated Pacquiao's drawing power. I've said after the Mayweather fight fell through that they should find an American opponent for Manny or perhaps a Mexican opponent. PPV sales is driven by the American audience and the fight was on American soil and putting a Ghanian who's not known outside the boxing circles was a HUGE mistake.
Pag PPV numbers ang pagusapan for Pacquiao, anything less than a million buys is disappointing. This goes to show na na overestimate nila lalo ni Bob Arum ang drawing power ni Manny. Popular nga si Manny, that's true, and he is still a big draw but this goes to show that his drawing power is not as huge as people think it is. It wouldn't have mattered kung sino pa kalaban niya. Fact is it takes two to tango. You need two fighters fighting each other who are both known to the buying audience to make it really successful.
Kaya ang fight ni Mayweather at Mosley will surely do at least twice better than Pacquiao-Clottey. Two American fighters fighting on American soil, and they both have animosity against each other for the past 10 years also helps.
Picking Clottey was a huge mistake. Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez would have been better or perhaps sit it out and wait for Margarito to get his licencse back.
Bad news sa Pacaquiao-Mayweather fight eto
Ang Mayweather-Mosley fight will probably do 2-3 times better. Tingin ko baka mga 1.5-2 million buys. At pag mangyari yan which I think it will, ANG MAGIGING PROBLEMA SA NEGOTIATIONS SA PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER FIGHT WILL BE ABOUT MONEY HINDI DRUG TESTING PROTOCOLS. Siguradong mag dedemand ng mas malaki na split si Mayweather dahil irason nya na mas mataas ang pay per view buys niya. Totoo naman though, kung iadd at ikumpara lahat ng PPV ni Mayweather at Pacquiao mas mataas talaga ang numbers ni Mayweather.
Guarantee yan ang magiging problema sa pagganap ng Pacquiao-Mayweather. Pera na ngayon ang magiging problema hindi drug testing.
