Pinoy boxer guns for WBC interim title
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxer Denver Cuello will be going against Mexican KO artist Juan Hernandez next week in an attempt to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) interim minimum weight title in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Cuello, trained by Frankie and Sol Jaro at the Jaro Boxing Stable in Binangonan, Rizal, has a pro record of 19-2-5 (10 knockouts) while Hernandez has 16-1 (13 KOs).
The Filipino boxer last saw action on January 23 against Samuel Apuya at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. He stopped Apuya via 1st Round technical knockout.
The winner of the Cuello-Hernandez tussle will face the survivor of the WBC world title clash between Japanese Yasutaka Kuroki and Thailander Oleydong Sithsamerchai.
Cuello’s team and his Thai promoter Naris Singwangcha will leave for Mexico via California on Sunday.
The fight date is on March 27.
