MANILA, Philippines – Meralco import Brian Butch came up with another monster performance as the Bolts overhauled a 20-point third quarter deficit and beat the Air21 Express, 109-98, in their PBA Commissioners Cup showdown Sunday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

New Air21 import Wesley Witherspoon marked his debut with 44 points, and was instrumental in helping the Express build a 20-point lead, 86-66, late in the third period.

But Butch and Jared Dillinger led a fiery Meralco run in the final period, with Dillinger’s lay-up putting the Bolts ahead, 99-98, in the final period.

The Express broke down from there, as they were unable to stop Dillinger, while Butch was steady at the free throw line to keep Air21 at bay.

Butch bounced back from a poor performance in their last game against Talk 'N Text with a 40-point, 31-rebound performance, while Dillinger added 20 points.

Mac Cardona added 22 points and Asi Taulava had 11 markers for Air21, who lost for the third time in five games.

Meralco improved its record to 3-2, and currently sits at solo fourth in the league standings.
