UFC 111: Hardy finds weaknesses of GSP
MANILA, Philippines – Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy claimed he has found weaknesses in the fight game of the seemingly invincible Georges “Rush” St.-Pierre, the reigning welterweight champ.
“People tell me he is invincible. I've never come across anyone I see as invincible. The more I study someone, the more weaknesses I see. From a fan's point of view, GSP looks amazing,” said The Outlaw in a report by Telegraph.co.uk.
“But it's my job to read the body language, study the moves, make a game plan. I have the plan," said Hardy, who will clash with St.-Pierre in UFC 111 on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
Hardy said he can’t play mind games with St.-Pierre just like he did with Marcus Davis in UFC 99.
The Briton scored a split decision against Davis, who was a bit out of his game because of all the trash talk he’s had with Hardy leading to their fight.
Hardy said this won’t work with St.-Pierre.
“GSP (St.-Pierre) is such a nice guy the only way he'd be cast as a villain was if he were to fight Jesus Christ," he said.
This doesn’t mean that St.-Pierre is in for an easy fight.
"The thing that makes a person dangerous is having nothing to lose," he said. "I have nothing to lose. And he has everything."
St.-Pierre, who has 19 wins and 2 losses, defeated Thiago “Pit bull” Alves by unanimous decision in UFC 100 in July last year.
Hardy, who has a record of 23-6-0 with 1 no contest (NC), beat Mike Swick by unanimous decision in UFC 105 last November.
UFC 111: St-Pierre vs Hardy will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
