TNT to defend No. 1 standing vs Petron
MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Talk N' Text seeks to maintain hold on the No. 1 spot as it collides against rival Petron Blaze on Wednesday's PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
"It's a huge game as we’re attempting to grab the No. 1 seat. I'm sure the SMC group is hell-bent on denying us. Petron will surely go all out to help their sister teams and rightly so. We must play our best to have a chance,” Texters coach Chot Reyes said on PBA.ph.
Reyes is referring to Petron’s sister team, Barangay Ginebra.
A loss to the Blaze will push B-Meg atop the standings while forcing Texters to battle the Gin Kings for the No. 2 spot.
Talk N’ Text wants to avoid the complication by gunning for the No. 1 spot.
Already out of the running for the semis, Petron wants to end its conference campaign with a win.
Petron import Will McDonald wants to show his true worth after being ejected from the game during his PBA debut.
The Boosters import was thrown out of the game for hurling the ball on Mick Pennisi’s head.
McDonald was spared of suspension but drew a fine of P20,000 for his misconduct.
“After a careful review of the circumstances leading to the foul, and hearing McDonald’s explanation, this office finds that the act committed does not merit suspension. The monetary penalty should suffice at this time,” said PBA commissioner Chito Salud.
