Pacquiao: Only God knows who will win
On repeated requests to predict the possible outcome of his May 2 fight, Manny Pacquiao said he still has God in his mind.
“We don't know who will win on May 2," Pacquiao said in an article written by Gareth Davies of Telegraph.co.uk. "Only God knows that. He is the only one who knows.”
This was Pacquiao’s statement during Monday’s press conference for his superfight with Ricky Hatton.
Although the Filipino boxing icon refused to make predictions, he acknowledged Hatton’s strengths.
"Ricky's a strong fighter, a good fighter and he's quick,” said the humble top pound-for-pound boxer.
Pacquiao’s statement was in contrast with Hatton’s views on their “Battle of East and West”.
"I respect Manny for his skills and all his power but I think he should be a bit more worried about my power," said Hatton.
"This is the best Ricky Hatton. It is even better than the Ricky Hatton that beat Kostya Tszyu and that's my best win to date so far in my career, so I think a lot of people are going to be surprised come fight night," her added.
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, however, thinks otherwise.
"Hatton's defensive skills are too weak; he's too easily hit. And he's had problems particularly with southpaws," he said.
These “weaknesses”, according to Roach will make Hatton a short fight for Pacquiao.
“It’s going to be short and sweet,” said Roach.
