Powerade-Team Pilipinas outpaced the taller Motolite-Australia Great White Sharks, 87-63, during Friday’s RP-Australia Goodwill Games at the Araneta Coliseum.

Kerby Raymundo top scored for RP with 13 points to lead the National squad past the Australian team, which was led by playing coach Bruce Bolden.

Former PBA Most Valuable Player James Yap and Sonny Thoss led the charge for the Nationals in the first quarter as the RP squad posted 17 points against the White Sharks’ 14.

Raymundo, Gabe Norwood and Cyrus Baguio sparked a spectacular run in the second quarter as the Nationals zoomed by as much as 20 points over the Aussies.

Team Pilipinas was leading comfortably as the first half ended, 43-24.

The White Sharks tried to stop the bleeding in the third canto as Graeme Dann launched a rally only to be stonewalled by RP defenders Mick Pennisi and team captain Asi Taulava.

The Australians eventually lost steam in the final quarter, virtually surrendering the game by the final minute.

The Goodwill Games serves as RP Team's tuneup for their upcoming international meets, including the Southeast Asian Basketball Association tournament.
