Bisping still dreams of fighting Silva

MANILA, Philippines – Britain’s Michael Bisping still hopes he can still work his way to title contention and face UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva before his career ends.

"Obviously I have the utmost admiration for Anderson Silva. He's proven time and time again that he's the best," Bisping said in ESPN UK.

"But he's also the guy I'd most like to fight as well. It would be a travesty if, when I retire, I've never fought him.”

Bisping was supposed to win his title shot by facing Vitor Belfort.

But Belfort proved to be the better fighter, stopping the trash-talking Briton in the second round of their UFC bout knockout last January.

“I've been close a few times. But that's nobody's fault but mine. It's nobody's fault but mine and some TRT and some clever doctors," Bisping said, referring to Belfort’s use of testosterone replacement therapy.

Meanwhile, Bisping will have to climb the middleweight ranks by facing Alan Belcher.

The two will square off on April 27 in UFC 159.
