Former WBC super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez said he is willing to wait -- even if it takes him "many years" -- just to get a rematch with Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao. He said he will do this even at 40.

“No problem, even if I turn 40 years old, I’ll wait for Pacquiao. Unless he’s afraid,” said Marquez, who lost his title to the Filipino lefty via split decision last month.

Marquez, 35, fought Pacquiao for the second time on March 15. Their first match was in 2004 and it ended in a controversial draw.

The former world champion came all the way from Mexico to visit the Philippines to challenge Pacquiao again. The Mexican was also in Manila to watch the "Invasion: Philippines vs The World" boxing matches Sunday.

“I’m here to challenge Manny Pacquiao, because I won the fight. Everybody knows I won the fight. He knows too,” he said.

When asked if the idea of another rematch has become his obsession, Marquez disagreed.

“It’s not an obsession to me. Because I think and I feel I won twice on Manny Pacquiao. Maybe it’s unofficial for him, because he couldn’t beat me,” he said.

‘Too much money is crazy’

Regarding Pacquiao’s demand of a bigger purse for another rematch, Marquez said this is "crazy."

Earlier, Top Rank head Bob Arum who handles Pacquiao’s promotion, said the champion deserves a whopping $10 million if they meet again.

“My promoters offered $6 million in the press conference after the fight. The Pacquiao camp said nothing. Next week he said, ‘I want $10 million.’ If I give in to his demand, he’d probably say ‘I want $15 million.’ That’s crazy,” said Marquez.

Golden Boy’s chief operating officer David Itskowitch, however, hinted that Pacquiao might get what he wants if he really wants the fight.

“At the end of the day, money talks. That’s really what it is...  But at the end of the day it’s the biggest fight for Manny… For the two of them, if it happens, it’s the biggest moneyed fight,” said Itskowitch.
