Trainer Joel Diaz said American boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. will hit a lot harder when he defends his WBO welterweight belt against Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao on April 12.

During Bradley’s media day in California last week, Diaz said Bradley has learned his lessons from his first fight against Pacquiao two years ago, which resulted in a controversial victory for the American.

“The first one, we got a little bit excited, because an opportunity to fight Manny Pacquiao was great,” said Diaz in a Fight Hype interview. “So I think he overworked himself. (He trained for) 12 weeks. That was a lot of time.”

“Now, we put in the proper time. He’s great, he’s already at 150 (pounds), three pounds over. He can make weight tomorrow,” he added.

Diaz said Bradley worked hard on improving his punching power all throughout training camp.

“As you guys can see, he’s hitting a lot harder,” Diaz said of his fighter. “Tim Bradley right now, he’s hitting so hard that the volume of punches is no longer there.”

“You used to see Timothy throwing 10 punches and just hitting. Now, you’re gonna see him throw five punches, but very effective,” he guaranteed.

“Great timing, good power, and now, he’s snapping completely.”

Bradley himself has expressed confidence in his punching ability, even claiming that he can stop Pacquiao with his left hook.

“I’m going to knock him out with the left hook. Not the right, but the left hook. That’s what I’m going to knock him out with,” Bradley said during his media day.

Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, however, dismissed Bradley’s threat. “He can’t punch with either hand, so I’m not worried about it,” said the Hall-of-Fame trainer.

Bradley may enter the ring as defending champion, but Diaz said he has yet to hear an analyst favor the American against Pacquiao in the rematch.

“I haven’t heard anything, and I don’t care,” said the trainer. “All the odds are against us every time. I’ve never had a fight where they give us the love and say he’s gonna win.”

“So we’re going to the fight against all odds. A lot of people think Bradley’s gonna lose, and like I said, we’re gonna ruin people’s nights like we always do,” Diaz added.
