Roach not a fan of pastors in Pacquiao camp

Manny Pacquiao's training camp for his rematch against Timothy Bradley has been a picture of harmony, from the time he opened up camp in General Santos City until he wrapped it up in Los Angeles.

For trainer Freddie Roach, there’s just one problem.

“I think the biggest problem right now is these pastors keep coming around at odd hours to have him pray,” the Hall-of-Fame trainer told Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.

Pacquiao’s faith has raised several questions, with some critics wondering if it will keep him from going for the kill against opponents in boxing matches.

This time, the problem comes even before the “Pacman” steps foot inside the ring.

“When he is sleeping, you have to leave him alone. I do,” Roach pointed out. “I wait hours for the guy if he is sleeping. If he is sleeping, he must need it.”

Although he is unhappy about the situation, Roach seems to understand that he has no control over it. “I’m not happy with those guys so much, but that is his choice,” he said. “I’m not going to go babysit.”

Pacquiao on Wednesday assured his supporters that his faith will not keep him from flashing an aggressive, overpowering form against Bradley on April 12.

“Importante ang Panginoon sa buhay natin,” he said on radio DZMM. “Ano man ang gagawin natin ay kailangan nating unahin ang Panginoon.”

“Anong magagawa natin kung wala ang Panginoon? Nagsisikap tayo sa training, at pagdating ng laban, ang blessings ay nasa kamay na ng Panginoon,” Pacquiao added.
