MANILA, Philippines – Undefeated American boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. will be ready to defeat Filipino ring icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao on June 9 in Las Vegas, according to Bradley's trainer, Joel Diaz.
In an interview with Examiner, Diaz said he is thankful to Team Pacquiao for giving them an opportunity, but insisted that Bradley will be there to win and not just to pick up a paycheck.
"I want to give special thanks to Team Pacquiao, Freddie (Roach) and Manny for giving us an opportunity to show what we’ve been working on for many, many years," Diaz said.
"I respect every opponent, every team that we've faced. I give them respect, but the thing I am going to tell you, that night, we come to fight, not to make friends," he added.
Diaz said he is training Bradley not just to "show up," but to defeat Pacquiao.
"We are going to be there that night to defeat Manny Pacquiao... We are not going to go to that event just to show up and look good and put up a performance," he said.
"We are going to be there that night ready to win the fight. I am going to prepare Tim Bradley to go to war and take that throne from Manny Pacquiao. With all respect, we are going to be victorious that night," Diaz added.
Bradley is undefeated through his first 28 career fights. Pacquiao, meanwhile, has not lost a fight since dropping a decision against Mexico's Erik Morales in 2005.
