Texters level series with Barako
MANILA, Philippines – Talk N’ Text came back strong in Game 2 of its best-of-5 PBA Commissioner's Cup semi-final duel against Barako Bull on Thursday.
Talk N’ Text import Donnell Harvey, who was limited to just 9 points in Game 1, came up with 24 points to lead the Texters past the Energy, 123-98.
Six other Tropang Texters scored in double digits and bombarded the Energy with triples late in the fourth quarter.
Ranidel de Ocampo had 18 points and Larry Fonacier scored 14.
Ryan Reyes tallied 13 points, while Kelly Williams and Jimmy Alapag had 12 markers each.
Jason Castro finished with 10 points.
The Texters, the defending champions, were blasted by the Barako Bull Energy, 84-77, in their Game 1 encounter.
After playing it tight in the first quarter, Talk N’ Text grabbed the lead, 55-45, at the half.
The Texters widened the gap to 12 points in the third period after Carey and Williams started connecting their shots.
Talk N’ Text was unstoppable in the last quarter with Alapag and Fonacier taking turns scoring beyond the arc.
Barako Bull import Gabe Freeman and Don Allado combined for 40 points, while Danny Seigle scored 16.
Roland Tubid and Willie Miller each had 10 points, but these weren’t enough. The rest of their teammates failed to score in double digits.
Game 3 between Talk N’ Text and Barako Bull is set on Saturday.
