NEW YORK – Veteran Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen has been suspended one game for elbowing Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao, the NBA said on Tuesday.

Allen elbowed Varejao in the groin with 5:05 remaining in the third quarter of the Celtics' 107-76 loss to the host Cavaliers on Sunday.

Allen, who averages 18.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, will serve his suspension when the Celtics visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.
