“Hawaiian Punch” Brian Viloria is set to go for broke on Sunday as he tries to wrest the IBF light flyweight crown from reigning champion Ulises Solis of Mexico.

Viloria, a former WBC light flyweight champion, said he is ready to take on Solis at the historic Araneta Coliseum to become a world champion again.

“I promise you, I will give it my all on Sunday,” Viloria said during the final presser for Sunday’s fight card, which will also feature the IBF flyweight title clash between champion Nonito Donaire and Raul Martinez.

Viloria won the WBC title in 2005 by knocking out Eric Ortiz. He defended the crown once in 2006 but lost it to Mexican Omar Niño Romero by decision the same year.

The Filipino tried getting back the title in a rematch late 2006 but again lost to Romero via a controversial majority draw decision.

In 2007, Viloria again tried winning the WBC title which was stripped from Romero for use of illegal substance. He, however, lost to Edgar Sosa through by points.

Viloria said he is ready to unfurl a new version of himself, worthy of a world boxing crown. With a report from TJ Manotoc, ABS-CBN News
