Pacquiao's sparring partner wins by 1st round KO
MANILA, Philippines – American junior middleweight Shawn Porter, one of Manny Pacquiao’s sparring partners, scored a 1st round knock out over his Colombian opponent Raul Pinzon on Friday (Saturday in Manila) at the Wicomico Civic Center in Maryland, USA.
According to Philboxing.com’s Ronnie Nathanielsz, the undefeated Porter dropped Pinzon with a crisp overhand right.
Pinzon fell face first on the canvas and was counted out at 2:39 of the opening round.
With the win, Porter improved to 14-0 with 11 knockouts, while Pinzon dropped to 17-5 with 16 knockouts.
Porter worked with Pacquiao during the latter’s preparation against Miguel Cotto. The Filipino won the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title from the Puerto Rican in November 2009.
