MANILA, Philippines – Barako's veteran forward Danny Seigle has been named the PBA Player of the Week for the period of April 9-15 thanks to his consistent performances in the semifinals of the PBA Commissioner's Cup playoffs.
Seigle averaged 16.3 points, five rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.3 steals and one assist off the Barako bench last week, helping the Energy in their best-of-five semi-final match-up against the fancied Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters.
"He is a true warrior," Barako head coach Junel Baculi told PBA.ph about Seigle. "Pure talent."
The 35-year-old veteran has been the most consistent local for Barako, even in a team loaded with veterans like Mick Pennisi, Dorian Pena, Willie Miller and Ronald Tubid.
"Before and still today, he still makes the same moves and yet, no one can single-handedly guard him," Baculi said.
Seigle scored 19 points in Barako's 84-77 Game 1 victory over TNT, and had 16 points in their Game 2 loss. He then scored 14 points in Barako’s bounce back win in Game 3.
He was the leading scorer for the Energy in Game 4 with 20 points, but they lost to the Texters 90-108.
Barako will get another chance to close out the series against the Texters in a do-or-die Game 5 on Wednesday.
