Filipino boxing veteran Gerry Peñalosa arrived in Puerto Rico Monday night (Tuesday in Manila) for his title match against WBO super bantamweight champion Juan Manuel “JuanMa” Lopez at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez on April 25.

According to PhilBoxing.com, Peñalosa took an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles Monday morning via Miami on his way to Puerto Rico.

The Filipino champion trained under the tutelage of boxing coach Freddie Roach to challenge the undefeated Lopez.

Peñalosa will appear with Lopez in a press conference scheduled on Wednesday at El San Juan Hotel and Casino. This will be followed by the weigh-in a day before the fight itself.

Peñalosa earlier said he will rely on his counter-punching skills to give Lopez his first taste of defeat.

The 25-year-old Lopez remains unbeaten in 24 fights. Twenty-two of those fights were won by knock-out.

Peñalosa, on the other hand, is a veteran of 62 fights. He won 54 of those matches and lost six times in his 20-year boxing career.
