The Philippines' Gerry Peñalosa conditioned himself a day after arriving in Puerto Rico for his match against reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight title holder Juan Manuel “JuanMa” Lopez on April 25.

Manager Billy Keane said in a report by InsideSports.com that Peñalosa underwent “a light workout” Wednesday afternoon at the gym of former world champion Wilfredo Gomez.

The 36-year-old Peñalosa, the reigning WBO bantamweight champion, weighed around 125 pounds, just three pounds over the super bantamweight limit.

He will attempt to wrest the WBO super bantamweight title from JuanMa.

Keane said Peñalosa looked “in great shape, very confident and ready to go.”

Peñalosa is expected to use his experience against Lopez, who is 11 years younger than him.

The 25-year-old Lopez remains unbeaten in 24 fights. Twenty-two of those fights were won by knock-out.

Peñalosa, on the other hand, is a veteran of 62 fights. He won 54 of those matches and has lost six times in his 20-year boxing career.

The two boxers will face each other at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon in Lopez’s home country Puerto Rico.
