NEW YORK - Brazilian big man Nene of the Washington Wizards was suspended for one game by the NBA on Saturday after a head-butting incident during a playoff game against the Chicago Bulls.

The South American star will miss Sunday's fourth game of the first-round playoff series between the Bulls and Wizards at Washington, with the Wizards leading the best-of-seven matchup 2-1 after Chicago's 100-97 victory Friday.

Nene was suspended after bumping foreheads with Jimmy Butler and grabbing the Bulls' swingman around the neck with his hands and attempting to throw his rival to the floor.

Nene received two technical fouls in the incident and was ejected for the game with 8:28 remaining in the fourth quarter, his absence helping spark a Chicago rally that allowed the Bulls to overtake the Wizards and avoid being pushed to the brink of being ousted from the playoffs.

The Wizards won the first two games in Chicago, the first time since 1982 they took a 2-0 playoff series lead and the first time in club history they had ever won the first two playoff games on the road.
