Fight fans expect an explosive fight between boxing warriors Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton. To local sports analysts, the May 2 match in Las Vegas might even turn out to be bloody.

Ed Picson, a veteran sports commentator and now the executive director of the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines, said he expects Pacquiao to show off his improved skills against the Brit.

"It's surprising to see how Manny has improved even after going up in weight. Even his boxing style is very different," he said.

Picson, however, warned Pacquiao from playing into Hatton’s hands. He said a phone booth action between the two fighters could spell the Pinoy’s doom. "If he goes toe-to-toe with Hatton, he could be in trouble especially if he gets cornered in the ring," he said.

Boxing analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz shared the same concern over Hatton’s fighting style. He said the Hitman has the tendency to trap his opponents before launching his deadly body shots.

"Hatton tries to embrace his opponents. He could try to hold Pacquiao's hand before punching. That's his style. He tries to trap you and then punches you in the body," said Nathanielsz.

But he believes Hatton’s style might not work on Pacquiao.

He said the People’s Champ is just too fast compared to the British champ. A flurry of punches from Pacquiao, Nathanielsz said, could turn Hatton’s face into a bloody mess. "Ang mga puti, may tendency talagang dumugo yan… nakita ko na ‘yan sa mga dating laban ni Hatton," he said.

Pacquiao is also prone to cuts. A nasty gash over the eye has cost Pacquiao his first fight against Mexican legend Erik Morales.

The reported trouble in Hatton’s camp might also affect the British boxer’s campaign against Pacquiao, the current pound-for-pound king.

"Floyd Mayweather Sr. likes to be even more famous than the boxers he trains. I heard news that he comes in late for [Hatton's] training so they argue over that," he said.
