MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxer Donnie "Ahas" Nietes defeated Mexico’s Moises Fuentes during their rematch in the main event of "Pinoy Pride XXV" on Saturday.

Nietes won after scoring a technical knockout in the 9th round to retain his WBO light flyweight title and added the RING junior flyweight lineal championship among his accomplishments.

With the win, Ahas improved his record to 33 wins, 1 loss, and 4 draws.

Fuentes, who battled Nietes to a majority draw last year, dropped to his second loss in 21 fights.

Nietes is trying to hold on to his titles to break the record set by the late great Gabriel "Flash" Elorde, who ruled as world junior lightweight champion for 7 years and 3 months.

The Filipino boxer remains undefeated as a champion since winning the WBO minimumweight title from Thai boxer Pornsawan Porpramook on September 30, 2007.

He later climbed weight and won the WBO light flyweight crown from Ramon Garcia Hirales in 2011.

Pinoy Pride will be aired on Channel 2 on Sunday starting 10:15 a.m.
