Guiao leading in Pampanga congressional race
MANILA -- Yeng Guiao's Rain or Shine team may have lost the race in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, but he is leading in the latest Comelec count as congressman for the first district of Pampanga.
Guiao, the incumbent vice governor of Pampanga, had 80, 147 votes based on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) unofficial tally as of 12:20 a.m. Tuesday.
His opponent Francis Nepomuceno of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) was behind by over 20,000 votes with 57,759.
Guiao, the son of former Pampanga Governor Bren Guiao, is an ally of Baby Pineda, who is leading by over 200,000 voter in the Pampanga gubernatorial race against Among Ed Panlilio.
Pineda has 399,890 votes while Panlilio has 99,977, as of posting.
Ex-Petron coach Ato Agustin, meanwhile, is two places behind Jimmy Lazatin in the race for vice mayor in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The former PBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) has 17,967 votes against Lazatin's 35,023. Raul Macalanio is running second with 19,521.
