MANILA, Philippines – Kaya FC dealt a blow to Loyola Meralco’s title aspirations, while Global FC remained in step with the league leaders after thrashing Pachanga Diliman in United Football League (UFL) action Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium.

Global, back in the UFL after competing in the AFC President’s Cup, came alive in the second half to beat Pachanga, 3-0.

Izzo Elhabib converted a penalty kick at the 54th minute after a penalty was called on Pachanga captain Yves Ashime.

Marwin Angeles doubled Global’s lead in the 83rd minute, before an own goal by Jed Rances in the 93rd allowed Global to go on top by three points.

Meanwhile, Chris Greatwich netted a brace for Kaya, who defeated the Loyola Meralco Sparks, 3-1.

Greatwich put Kaya ahead in the 20th minute, but Loyola’s James Younghusband scored the equalizer in the 34th.

Anton Del Rosario scored again for Kaya just before halftime, putting them ahead 2-1.

After Loyola’s Ref Cuaresma was booked in the 56th minute, Greatwich put the finishing touches on their victory by converting the penalty.

Loyola’s chances of clawing back into the match were hampered by a rain delay.

With their loss, Loyola sank to a 10-2-2 win-draw-loss record. Their 32 points are four behind leaders Stallion.

Meanwhile, Global FC kept in step with Stallion with 34 points after 13 matches.
