Mosley wins comeback fight
MANILA, Philippines – Former world champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley was successful in his comeback attempt, winning a unanimous decision over Pablo Cesar Cano in Cancun, Mexico.
According to Boxing Scene, Cano controlled the first few rounds, although Mosley remained competitive. “Sugar” seized the momentum in the middle rounds when he staggered Cano with hard shots.
In the sixth round, Mosley found his target on Cano’s head and body, and pressured the younger fighter throughout the round.
Cano did his best to recover in the second half of the fight, but Mosley was able to control the pace and landed his right hand with regularity.
All three judges scored the bout in favor of Mosley, 115-113, across the board.
It was Mosley’s first fight since losing to Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in May 2012, and his first victory since beating Antonio Margarito in 2009.
The 41-year-old Mosley hiked his record to 47 wins, eight losses and one draw, while Cano dropped to 26-3-1.
