Pacquiao to study in UP before Congress opens

MANILA, Philippines - Newly-elected congressman of Sarangani province Manny Pacquiao seems bent on becoming successful in performing his legislative duties in a way that is no different from how he has won his championship bouts – by preparing hard.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Pacquiao disclosed that he will enroll in a 1-week crash course in the University of the Philippines to learn the protocols in Congress.
“Yes, magi-study ako ng isang linggo para pag-aralan ang protocol sa Kongreso... Papasok ako sa UP College of Public Administration and Governance para magkaroon tayo ng kaalaman sa Congress,” said the congressman-elect.
The Filipino boxing icon also said that he will continue his course in business management before taking up law.
While serving as representative of Sarangani, he would like to see a university and a hospital established in his district.
“Una kong ipapasang batas siguro ay ‘yung creating a university in my district, in my province, and also creating a provincial hospital,” he said.
Pacquiao, the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion, also promised to remain a simple man despite being a legislator.
“Sinabi ko sa mga kababayan ko, kelangan ‘wag tayong magpakain sa sistema. Kung p'wede nga'ng mag-sandals lang, gagawin ko. Bakit ka pa poporma? Ang importante, kung anong magawa mo,” he said.
This early, though, Pacquiao appears to have already learned some political skills.
Despite having allied his local party to the Nacionalista Party of Sen. Manny Villar, he paid a courtesy call to leading presidential candidate Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, in his home in Quezon City on Tuesday night.

Pacquiao expressed support for the incoming administration. He clarified, however, that he is not moving to the Liberal Party.
“Para sa akin, hindi importante kung anong partido, ang importante makadala ako ng mga project. Siyempre si Noynoy ang nanalo, dapat sinusuportahan ang administrasyon, kasi pag ‘di tayo susuporta ‘di tayo uunlad,” he said.
He has already talked with Villar, consoling the senator for his loss in the presidential race.
“Nakausap ko siya ilang araw na ang lumipas... siyempre grabe ang effort niya sa pangangampanya. Ganun talaga, ‘di naman sa lahat ng pagkakataon may nananalo. May natatalo… bilog ang mundo,” said Pacquiao.
During the campaign, a television advertisement for Villar even featured Pacquiao alluding to Aquino's lackluster record as 3-term congressman and senator.
This caused some friction in his friendship with Noynoy’s sister, actress and television host Kris Aquino.

Anyway I did not read all the wall of text that you have been written against me because it was full of bullshit. First of all I'll ask you a question, what is the reason why you've been criticizing the Pacman so much besides that he has been giving us a lot of glory us Filipino and one nation. Perhaps you have been envious against him for I dont know the reasons. Maybe personally you dislike him or maybe you feel yourself that you should be better than him. Please answer that question within yourself, and dont brag yourself here, ok.
You always been insulting me in your whole text as being ignorance which in fact I'm just stating my fact about Pacman. If you think I'm just a plain fans of pacman who idolized him then you must be wrong because I've been a boxing fans since before the Pacman era. I know a lot of Filipino and foreign boxer who have been in the Highlight and Off on their boxing career. I also loled a lot when you say about the yahoo things when you based your claim about the best p4p there. I feel so funny to you that you believe that Kevin Lole and you jump to his bandwagon. For your information also, i was lured on this article because the link of this article had been posted on one of my frequenty visited boxing sites. And you dont know also on how we had been fighting to those racist ppl on the other sites against to our very own Pacman. So please dont question my boxing knowledge based on what you had felt against on me.
It is true that because of Pacman somehow our country was being put in the map because Most of the western people except those who are travelling a lot are dont know where the Philippines is but since Pacman become a household boxing celebrity in the US and some other country where boxing is popular they might also know where and what is Philippines. This could be subjected for debate but somehow this will help cover-up our Country as known to be one of those corrupt.
And lastly this article is not about me and you so please dont hijack the whole thread. As for the topic, I have no problem with Pacman being in the Congress because he was destained to be in that position and no matter what crying and whining you will do you cant change the fact because he is already a congressman. Give him a chance and learn to appreciate first before you criticized somebody.
