MANILA, Philippines – Ginebra court general LA Tenorio won the Best Player of the Conference plum for the first time in his career, while Alaska’s Rob Dozier became the first recipient of the Bobby Parks Trophy as the conference’s Best Import.

Tenorio, a seven-year veteran, was named the Best Player of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday night ahead of Game 3 of the finals between the Gin Kings and the Aces.

He had a total of 1,125 points, beating Alaska’s super rookie Calvin Abueva (861), Alaska point guard JV Casio (514), Talk N Text guard Jayson Castro (416) and GlobalPort gunner Gary David (402).

According to PBA.ph, Tenorio became the fourth Ginebra player to win the Best Player plum, after Eric Menk, JayJay Helterbrand and Mark Caguioa.

Meanwhile, Dozier totaled 1,233 points, ahead of Ginebra’s Vernon Macklin (926), San Mig’s Denzel Bowles (644) and TNT’s Tony Mitchell (515).

Tenorio and Abueva were in a tight race in terms of statistical points, but the Ginebra guard was the landslide winner in the balloting among players, media and PBA officials.

But it was Alaska who wound up winning the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown after beating Tenorio and the Gin Kings, 104-80, in Game 3.
