Near-brawl triggers Letran walk out in Filoil game
MANILA, Philippines – The Letran Knights walked out of the game with the San Beda Lions after a near-fracas erupted in the 3rd quarter of their hardcourt encounter in the Filoil Flying V Tanduay First Five Pre-Season Inivtational Cup at The Arena in San Juan on Saturday.
The near-melee took place with 6:22 minutes left in the 3rd quarter when Letran coach Louie Alas and San Beda assistant coach Ed Cordero got into a heated argument.
League officials ejected both Alas and Cordero from the game, prompting the Letran team to walk out. As a result, the game was forfeited in favor of San Beda.
The Lions, thus, improved to 3 wins and 1 loss while the Knights absorbed their 5th loss in 6 games.
The other games saw the Far Eastern University Tamaraws (4-2) beating the National University Bulldogs (2-4), 62-61, and the Mapua Cardinals (2-4) winning over St. Benilde Blazers (0-6), 79-71. -- ABS-CBN Sports
