Tenorio touched by GSM fans support
MANILA – LA Tenorio appreciated the unwavering support of die-hard fans despite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s defeat to Alaska in the recent PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals.
The Gin Kings got swept in three games by the Aces in their best-of-five series, but this didn’t diminish the fans’ support towards Ginebra.
“Grabe yung fans ng Ginebra, kahit nung kukunin namin yung runner-up trophy, nag-cha-chant pa rin sila. Talo pa kami nun ha,” said Tenorio, a former Ace who was shipped to the Kings last year, told Solar Sports’ Snow Badua.
Game 3 or the last of the best-of-5 finals series in the 2013 PBA Commissioner’s Cup set the record for the largest basketball crowd in the history of the Araneta Coliseum.
The game attracted 23,436 paying patrons, according to PBA.ph.
Most of them were Ginebra fans who wanted to see the Gin Kings come back from a 2-0 series deficit.
Tenorio said he was touched by their fans’ gesture of support.
“Basta, salamat sa kanila. Wala akong word na maisip para mapasalamatan sila sa sobrang tindi ng ginagawa nilang suporta para sa amin,” said Tenorio, who ended up with the Best Player of the Conference award.
The support, he said, motivates him and his team to make it to the finals of the season-ending PBA Governors Cup.
“Nakakagana talagang bumalik sa finals next conference,” said Tenorio.
