MANILA, Philippines – Ring gladiators Jason “El Niño” Pagara and his Mexican challenger Aaron “La Hoya” Herrera made the 140-pound weight limit for their WBO international junior welterweight clash as the main event of Pinoy Pride XX.
According to Philboxing’s Rene Bonsubre, Pagara tipped the scales at 139 pounds, while Herrera weighed 139.5 pounds.
Pagara will be defending the crown he won from Rosbel Montoya last August.
Meanwhile, Jimrex Jaca came in at exactly 140 pounds for his WBO Oriental junior welterweight title bout against Mexico’s Jose Emilio Perea.
Perea, on the other hand, weighed one pound over the limit. He will be allowed to fight on Saturday, provided that he shed the extra weight an hour before the fight.
Unbeaten Genesis “Azukal” Servania came in at 122 pounds for his 10-round non title bout against Indonesia’s Isaac Junior.
Junior tipped the scales to 124 pounds and was requested to shed a pound for their fight.
Pinoy Pride XX will take place at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on Saturday.
It will be aired on ABS-CBN Channel 2 on Sunday starting 10:15 a.m.
