UFC 160: Dos Santos unafraid of Hunt's KO power
MANILA – Former heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is unfazed by the fearsome reputation of his opponent in UFC 160.
Mark Hunt, who is riding on a 4-fight-win streak, knocked out three of his last four opponents.
However, Dos Santos isn’t bothered about Hunt’s ability to do damage.
“I don't care too much about how tough he is and how hard he hits. I think I'm faster than him and I'm gonna use that,” he said in Countdown to UFC 160.
His 3-round heavyweight bout against Hunt will be the main supporting bout of the Cain Velasquez-Antonio Silva title fight this Saturday in Las Vegas (Sunday in Manila).
UFC 160: Velasquez vs Silva will be aired on Balls Channel on Sunday, May 26, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Dos Santos himself is a heavy-handed striker, with 11 of his 15 victories ending by knockout.
He won the UFC heavyweight title from Velasquez, but lost it during their rematch last December.
“He was a world champion but he's just another fighter to me,” said Hunt.
“I can defeat Junior Dos Santos. I can defeat anybody.”
Dos Santos said he is determined to get the UFC title back from Velasquez.
But he must dispose of Hunt first to earn a possible title shot.
“I want to fight for the title again. I want my rematch with Cain Velasquez, but I'm not thinking about that now. Everything that I got in my mind now is Mark Hunt,” said Dos Santos.
