The Wild Card gym in Los Angeles, California will be temporarily closing its doors to fans who want to see Manny Pacquiao’s training for his June 28 showdown against World Boxing Council light weight champion David Diaz starting Monday.

A report posted on Philboxing.com said, Team Pacquiao’s security chief Rob Peters made the following announcement last Saturday:

"Ladies and Gentlemen: We appreciate your keen interest in watching Manny Pacquiao train today. Please enjoy it because effective Monday, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, the Wildcard Gym will be closed to the public including friends and acquaintance of the champion. We do not care if you are at the Palazzo visiting everyday. Beginning Monday if you do not have a specific role in the training, you will be asked to leave if you come to watch the training. Please do not make us ask you to leave. If you do not have a role, please do not come. Please note that no flash photography will be allowed today while Manny is sparring. Video photography of any kind is strictly prohibited. Thank you."

Sparring session

After the announcement, the Filipino boxing hero proceeded with his sparring sessions against three different boxers.

He started off with two rounds with Carlos Tangaro, a Filipino-Puerto Rican boxer who is based in Cochella Valley. Although slightly smaller than Pacquiao, Tangaro stood his ground and gave the boxing champion a real workout.

Next on his list was Mexican Steve Quiniones, a veteran boxer who has several years of experience under his belt. He is slightly bigger than Pacquiao, and the two had an exchange for three rounds.

Pacquiao then had two last sparring rounds with Scotsman Gary McMillen. Although McMillen had a longer reach than Pacquiao, the Filipino still managed to sneak in several combinations.

Roach was reportedly pleased with the sparring as his ward demonstrated excellent hand speed and magnificent foot work.

Pacquiao is scheduled to slug it out with Diaz on June 28 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada as he tries to be the first Asian to win four titles in four different divisions.
