MANILA, Philippines – Filipino-Swiss driver Marlon Stockinger made history by becoming the first driver of Philippine descent to win the Monaco GP 3 Series in Monte Carlo over the weekend.
Stockinger led the race from pole position all the way to the finish line. It was the first win of his GP3 career, and it came on the same track used in the Formula One race.
Stockinger of Status GP is the first driver to hear the Philippine national anthem on a European race podium.
Portuguese driver Antonio Felix de la Costa of Carlin pressured Stockinger throughout the race but had to settle for second place.
