RP's Ranola absorbs loss in Women's 10-Ball
MANILA -- Local favorite Iris Ranola absorbed another loss in the 2009 JBETpoker.net Women’s World 10-Ball Championship, this time against a Korean opponent at the Sky Dome of SM City North Edsa in Quezon City.
A report posted on AZBilliards said Ranola, the 2008 WPBA Rookie of the Year and last year’s US Open runner-up, lost to Korea's Yun Mi Lim, 5-3.
Ranola earlier yielded to Tamara Rademaker of the Netherlands, 5-2, in their opening match.
Sharing her bad luck was Fil-Am player Zarah del Rosario, and top Korean player Yu Ram Cha.
Del Rosario suffered a 5-0 setback against World Champion Yuan Chun Lin, while Cha performed poorly against Latetia Dos Santos, 5-1.
Favorite Jasmin Ouschan of Austria also lost a 5-2 match to Taiwan's Hsiang-Ling Tan.
Over 40 women from around the globe are participating in the event for the $20,000 1st place prize out of the total $75,000 at stake.
The event, which started on June 2, will run until June 6.
