Pacquiao flattered by Mosley’s offer but…
MANILA -- Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao said he is flattered with the offers being made by World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley to get him into the ring.
Pacquiao, however, said he has yet to see details of the proposed fight with Mosley.
“I know everyone wants to fight me and I have said I will fight anyone, including Mosley. But I have not heard from my promoter or have seen any contract or fight detail. So, there is no fight yet,” said Pacquiao in a report by Philboxing.com
“I am flattered that even the great “Sugar” Shane Mosley is now going after me by any means. I am not closing the door on any negotiations, though, and I trust my promotional and training team to make the best decision for me,” said the top pound-for-pound fighter who recently toppled British champion Ricky Hatton in just two rounds.
Mosley has reportedly offered a 40-60 revenue share favoring Pacquiao just to get the Filipino inside the ring with him.
Aside from the higher revenue cut, Mosley has also offered to meet Pacquiao at the 144-pound catch weight.
Pacquiao is set to fly with his family to Los Angeles for a vacation after a busy schedule in the Philippines. He will also drop by New York to receive the 2008 Fighter of the Year award from the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America on June 12.
“I am not blaming people for coming up with ideas to lure me to fight them. I have said it before and I will say it again, I will not run away from a great fight. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is even using reverse psychology, saying he will not agree to fight me for a 50-50 purse. Of course everyone wants to fight me,” said the Filipino champion.
“We will make the announcement at a proper time and a proper place after all the fight details have been discussed,” he said.
Pacquiao has become a hot item since winning successive fights over Hatton, boxing great Oscar de la Hoya and former WBC lightweight champion David Diaz.
