Manila - Underdog Rubilen Amit kicked billiards queen Jeanette "Black Widow" Lee out of the JBET Poker.net Women's World 10-Ball Championship after a heart-pounding race on Saturday.
Amit won by taking nine racks in her match against Lee.
As of this posting, the Filipina was facing Japanese Akimi Kajitani in a semi finals match at the Sky Dome at SM North Edsa in Quezon City.
A report by Ronnie Nathanielz posted on AZbIlliards.com said Amit started the match with Lee with a four-rack rally. The Black Widow, who once faced Filipino superstart Bata Reyes Jr. in a special match, recovered by taking the next four racks.
The match went on until Lee was only one rack closer to victory, which was snatched by Amit with "nothing-to-lose" shots.
Before Amit won her match against another billiards star, Hsiang Ling Tan of Chinese Taipei, with an 8-3 score.
Amit entered the KO stage by taking down another Filipina, Mica Claveria, on Wednesday night.
The Filipina cue artist is only two matches away from the US$20,000 top purse. The runner-up will get US$9,000 while the losing semifinalists will receive US$5,000 each. With a report from radio dzMM
