Barako Bull, GlobalPort seek to end slumps
MANILA, Philippines – Cellar-dwellers Barako Bull Energy and GlobalPort Batang Pier will look to end their losing streaks when they face off in the PBA Governors Cup Sunday night at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna.
Barako enters the game with a five-game losing streak, while GlobalPort has lost four straight. The two squads are tied at the bottom of the league standings with identical 1-5 records.
Allen Durham will make his debut for the Energy, replacing Eric Wise. Also playing their first game for Barako Bull are Nico Salva and Bonbon Custodio, who were traded from GlobalPort last week.
“Definitely, crucial itong game na ito sa campaign namin,” Barako Bull coach Siot Tanquingcen told PBA.ph. “Itong conference namin, napakahalaga na makakuha kami ng contribution, lalo na may bago kaming import at players sa team.”
Barako Bull won their first game of the season off Meralco, but has since lost five straight despite solid numbers from Wise, who averaged 28.7 points and 14.7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, GlobalPort is coming off an 82-97 loss to Talk 'N Text, with new addition Ronjay Buenafe scoring just five points.
Game time is at 3 p.m.
