MANILA, Philippines – The Barako Bull Energy ended a five-game losing streak by beating GlobalPort, 122-98, in their PBA Governors Cup showdown Sunday at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, Laguna.

Allen Durham scored 32 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in his debut for the Energy, who also got double-digit scoring from four local players.

It was Barako’s first victory since winning their first game of the conference against the Meralco Bolts.

Durham had flown in to replace Eric Wise, who averaged 28.7 points and 14.7 rebounds in six games for Barako but could only lead them to one win.

Durham completely outplayed GlobalPort counter-part Dior Lowhorn, who scored only 17 points to go along with nine rebounds.

GlobalPort has now lost five consecutive games to languish at the bottom of the league standings with a 1-6 record.

Barako has improved their win-loss slate to 2-5, tied with Meralco.

Rookie Terrence Romeo scored 22 points, Jay Washington had 15, and Alex Cabagnot added 13 for GlobalPort.

Meanwhile, Denok Miranda scored 20 points for Barako and JC Intal added 14 markers.

Barako controlled the boards, 49-30, and also out-assisted GlobalPort, 30-19. The Barako bench also outscored their GlobalPort counter-parts, 42-22.

Barako’s offense also hummed throughout the game, as they shot 56% from the floor, with Durham making 60% of his field goal attempts.
