MANILA (UPDATED) – Rain or Shine whipped Meralco, 104-85, and notched its fourth straight win in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.

Import Arizona Reid had a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds for Rain or Shine, which trailed Meralco, 46-51, in the first half.

The Elasto Painters came out roaring in the second half with a 15-4 incursion that led to a 13-point lead, 63-50, midway the third.

Mario West, who finished with 29 points, pulled Meralco within 67-63 before the end of the third canto.

Rain or Shine, however, proved to be too much for Meralco as it sent the Bolts tumbling behind via a 9-0 run. Rain or Shine’s lead became a 19-point gap at the end of regulation.

Raymond Almazan, who established a dominating presence inside the paint, finished with 12 points for the Elasto Painters, who also got 12 points from Gabe Norwood.

“We’re just riding our momentum,” said Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao in the PBA website.

“We’re still playing good defense, but the reason why we’re winning is that everybody’s making a contribution to the team, even the guys coming from the bench, the rookies. We’re healthy except for JR [Quinahan].”

The victory boosted the Elasto Painters' chances of being included in the Top 4 by the end of the elimination round.

Teams in the Top 4 will each get a twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs.

“I hope it’s not too late,” said Guiao. “We’re trying to make the top four. We need to win one more game. We started out slow, but we’re trying to make up for the slow start that we had.”

Cliff Hodge led Meralco’s locals with 17. Mike Cortez added 10. The Bolts fell to their 6th defeat in 8 games and could miss the trip to the quarterfinals.
