Bradley damaged ligaments on both feet
MANILA, Philippines – American boxer Timothy Bradley, who on Saturday was crowned the new World Boxing Organization welterweight champion, has been diagnosed with damaged ligaments on both feet.
Bradley confirmed to RingTV that he has pulled ligaments in his left foot and strained ligaments on his right foot.
Both injuries came during his 12-round welterweight clash against Filipino icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, which Bradley won via a highly controversial split decision.
“I’m in a wheelchair right now and just rolling around. I’ll be getting a cast on Monday for my left foot,” he said.
“I have no idea how long I’ll be in it. I’ve got another appointment on Monday, so they’ll be re-evaluating it to see if I’m healing. But that’s pretty much it,” Bradley added.
Bradley went to the post-fight press conference in a wheel chair and revealed that he injured his ankle as early as the second round, but still finished the fight against Pacquiao.
The Filipino boxer was seen as the clear winner by majority of the boxing media as well as fight fans, but Bradley was still awarded the split decision by the judges, in a result that is now under investigation by the Nevada State’s Attorney General.
Bradley is in good spirits despite the injury and the controversy surrounding his career-defining win.
“Everything is good. I’m good. My spirit is good. Can’t nothing hold me down,” he said.
