Fajardo leads stats race for Best Player plum

Durham paces race for Bobby Parks award

MANILA – June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer leads the statistical race for the Best Player of the Conference award after the elimination round of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

The 6’11” center averaged 21.8 points, 16 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 9 games, according to the PBA website. The figures sum up to an average of 43.8 statistical points (SPs).

Fajardo, who won the Best Player of the Conference award in the season opening Philippine Cup, was instrumental in securing the Beermen’s fourth seeding in the playoffs with a 5-4 win-loss card.

Asi Taulava of Air21 is second with averages of 18.1 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks for an average of 37.9 SPs.

In third place is Meralco’s Cliff Hodge (34.6 SPs), followed by Greg Slaughter of Barangay Ginebra (34.0 SPs).

Talk ‘N Text’s Ranidel de Ocampo made it to the Top 5 with 32.9 SPs.

Meanwhile, Barako Bull’s Allen Durham is ahead of the pack for the Bobby Parks Best import race with his 61.0 SPs. The dominant import averaged 25.7 points, 25 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 0.3 steals in his 3 games with the Energy Cola.

In second place is Paul Harris of the league-leading Talk ‘N Text. Harris garnered an average of 56.5 SPs for norming 32.3 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game.

Rain or Shine’s Arizona Reid is third with 54.6 SPs, followed by San Miguel Beer’s Reggie Williams (49.1 SPs), and Meralco’s Mario West (48.5 SPs).

According to the PBA website, the statistics comprise 40% of the criteria for the selection of the Best Player of the Conference and Best Import of the Conference.

The rest will come from media votes (30%), player votes (25%)and consensus vote of the PBA Commissioner’s Office (5%).
