MANILA – Former two-time world champion Amir Khan said he hopes to fight Filipino superstar and former training partner Manny Pacquiao in November.

Khan, who used to train under Freddie Roach, said he would be available to fight late this year, which is close to Pacquiao’s scheduled ring return in November.

“We want to fight the big guys the top names in boxing,” Khan said in Sky Sports’ Ringside. “The next time that I want to fight is around November or December. Ramadan is coming up so I am going to spend time at home and enjoy that month.”

The big names he’s after are Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., but added that he is closer to making the Pacquiao fight.

“There are talks about Manny Pacquiao happening in the future – (it) may be next. So I have left my team, Al Haymon and my team Khan Promotions, to do everything,” said Khan.

The British-Pakistani has sparred with Pacquiao and even visited the Philippines while the Filipino was training for one of his fights.

Roach, however, isn’t receptive about pitting the Filipino champion against Khan.

He said Khan has become too much of a smart fighter that he takes the “fun” out of a fight.

“He throws combinations and holds now, it's so boring,” Roach said in a previous report. “It's smart but not fun to watch. I don't want to stink the place out.”

Meanwhile, Khan said he still hopes to get a fight with Mayweather in the future.

“The fight between me and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen one day. As long as I keep winning and putting on great performances, it is definitely going to happen. But I cannot do September because of Ramadan. The next time that it could happen is in May. I can fight then so it could be Floyd’s next fight after September.”
